About ME

Hello, I’m Maria Sullivan
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Meaningful Mental Health. I work with high-functioning adults who feel overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, or emotionally stuck — even when life looks “fine” on the outside. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, regulated, and connected to yourself through therapy that is both compassionate and practical.
My Approach To Therapy
Therapy with me is warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative, while also offering structure and direction. I believe meaningful change happens when you feel supported and equipped with tools you can use outside of session. Rather than simply talking through problems, we focus on understanding patterns, regulating emotions, and responding to stress and relationships in more intentional ways.
Trauma-Informed & DBT-Based Care
A core part of my work is grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based, skills-focused approach that helps people manage intense emotions, cope with stress more effectively, and build healthier relationships. I have extensive experience developing and implementing DBT programming, and this framework continues to guide how I help clients create lasting, real-world change. My work is also trauma-informed, honoring the ways past experiences — including medical or complex trauma — can continue to impact the nervous system and emotional well-being.
Experience & Training
I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and have over 10 years of experience working across diverse mental health settings, including outpatient therapy, community-based care, addiction treatment, and medical environments. These experiences shaped my commitment to offering thoughtful, inclusive, and individualized care that meets you where you are.
A Space for Meaningful Growth
Meaningful Mental Health was created as a space that extends beyond therapy sessions — through reflection, education, and resources that support growth in everyday life. If you’re looking for therapy that feels steady, intentional, and aligned with who you are and where you want to go, I invite you to reach out and schedule a consultation.
